THE ‘COME LIME WITH ME’ GARDEN

RHS TATTON PARK 2022, YOUNG DESIGNER CATEGORY

AWARDED A SILVER MEDAL

Lime: (verb) to do nothing while sharing food, drink, conversation and laughter

This garden was inspired by my mixed Anglo-Guyanese heritage. Growing up the garden was always a joyful place to be, full of friends and good food. I wanted to create a garden that captured that feeling, with vibrant planting and plenty of space for people to sit down and spend time together.

The plants chosen for this garden are a mixture of tropical-inspired and brightly coloured trees and perennials alongside a range of edible plants. The mixture of the two within the beds makes the garden feel relaxed and interactive, you can sit down and pick a few herbs or a chilli to add to your meal.

PLANT LIST

Trachycarpus fortunei / Ficus carica ‘Jannot’ / Stipa arundinacea / Amaranthus cruentus ‘Hot Biscuits’ / Echinacea ‘Harvest MoonandMarmalade’ / Liriatris spicata / Heuchera ‘ObsidianandMarmalade’ / Foeniculum vulgare / Achillea ‘Terracotta’ / Geranium ‘Rozanne’ / Perovskia ‘Blue SpireandLittle Spire’ / Nymphaea ‘Lemon Mist’ / Dahlia ‘Bishop of Oxford’ / Dianthus ‘Green Trick’ / Ocimum basilicum / Polypodium vulgare / Digiplexis ‘Firecracker’ / Salvia nemorosa ‘Caradonna’ / Assorted chillis / Origanum vulgare / Panicum virgatum ‘Shenandoah’ / Tagetes tenuifolia 'Tangerine Gem' / Physalis ixocarpa / Sanguisorba officinalis

‘Liming’ is a Guyanese/Caribbean slang term for hanging out and enjoying the scene.

They are often unplanned, with no set start or end time.

There is no reason for meeting up other than to enjoy each other’s company.

There is no guest list - everyone’s invited!
